Agriturismo Tre Fiori Villa Chianti - Valdarno
Agriturismo Tre FioriVilla Chianti - Valdarno

What to do? And how far is it?

We at Agriturismo Tre Fiori believe the essence of going on a holiday in tuscany is experiencing the traditional lifestyle, the famous art and historical sites as well as good old relaxing. Food, wine and leisure are at the core of a tuscan vacation. For travelling around you will need a car (rental cars are easily available at airports and train stations of large cities). However: travelling around by car can be more than a necessity. We recommend that you take for some destinations routes on smaller roads, you will love the views and the relaxing driving. But do not overdo this! For some in the car the continous turns might be a challlenge. For instance: To travel to Siena we recomend a route via Levane and evenntually ss73. This is much more convenient than to cross all of the chianti hills in one day. Basically all of the great centers of interest of Chianti and tuscany are within an easy drive from .Agriturismo Tre Fiori.

Note: these are only the most common destinations - please ask for more

Firenze (Florence) - 60 minutes by car

Driving time from Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci is approx. 60 minutes. Before you come to Tre Fiori the first timme we recommend that you shop for food in one of the large supermarkets 'coop' in Monttevarchi, San Giovannni Valdarno or Figline.

For a tour to Florence you have two possibilites: Take train from Montevarchi (Park & Ride-Parking available), then you do not have the hassle of parking in Firenze. If you drive take your car, the underground parking Parcheggio Sant'Ambrogio (Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti, 50122 Firenze) is much more convenient than the one near the train station. Driving time 55 min.

Siena - 60 minutes by car

Perhaps the most beautiful square in the world is the Piazza il Campo of Siena. The famous site of the horse races 'Palio' (July 2nd and August 16th) is located in the center of the ancient city. On the foot of the square there is the town hall with its museum and tower. The other must see of Siena is the Duomo. You should plan to on going upstairs in Siena for great views. You can do this either in the town hall or through the museum of the Duomo. We recommend Parking near the stadium.

Outlet shopping - 15 or 25 minutes by car

Florence and the Valdarno is italy's center of fashion manufactioring. The brand "Prada" was founded in San Giovanni Valdarno, Pradas headquaters are nowadays in the neighbouring city of Montevarchi, where their world famous Outlet is located (Localita Levanella 63, Strada Statale 69, 52025 Montevarchi). Please note that this one has no Prada branding on the outside it only reads "Space".

The other world famous Fashion-Outlet is in "The Mall" Regello. Here you will find a smaller Prada-Outlet (branded) as well as other brands like Gucci, Ferrgamo, Cavalli, Burberry, etc. The Mall Regello

Arezzo - 40 minutes by car

The provincial capital of our area might not be as wellknown as other destinations. However ist is absolutely lovely. There are many very ancient churches to visit, perhaps the most intersting is the Church San Francesco, where you will find the beautifully restored frescos of Piero dell Francesca.

Also very interesting to visit: The antiques market, every first weekend of the month. Merchands and costoumers from all over the world meet to sell and buy the most beautiful pieces.

Pisa - 90 minutes by car

The City of Pisa has only two interesting places to offer: the leaning tower, just outside of the city center and the airport. The Airport is actually larger than the airport of tuscany's capitol city of Firenze. Pisa is where many low cost carriers, but also major airlines fly in. The handling of the car rental is very sophisticated and seems more convenient than in other italian airports.

Of course, the leaning tower of Pisa is a must see, once in a lifetime. The rest of the city is not really worthwhile, since it is one of the few city centers of tuscany that was destroyed during WW2. If you take a trip to Pisa and would like to visit on the way a nice town, chosse neighbouring Lucca. Nice restaurants near the colosseo.

San Gimignano - 70 minutes by car

San Gimignano is considerd the "Manhattan of the Middle Ages" since their rich families found themselves in a fierce competition, whose family could build the highest tower. These buildings had no practical use except to show the families wealth. Today you can enjoy great views from top of some of the towers.

Also interesting: Whereas Tuscany is basicallly "red wine territory" this is one of the few areas of tuscany that takes a great pride in their white wines. The "Vernaccia di San Gimignano" is a world famous and elegant white wine.
